i want to buy a laptop, should i buy sony or gateway?
i wanna buy a laptop, but i dont know what to buy, im thinking about the sony vaio FW series, or the Gateway MD7818U Refurbished Notebook PC – Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 2GHz, 4GB DDR2, 500GB, DVDRW, 15.6” WXGA, Vista Home Premium 64-bit. but thats not decided yet.
any suggestions? links to website would be helpful too!!

Go for the Sony. They’re kind of like the Mac of the PC world, without the outrageous price tag. In other words, they look nice, work great, and you don’t have to shell out an extra $800 – $1000 bucks for an a different operating system.

Hey I bought a sony vaio Z-series laptop in Aug in Singapore. Since then, I had sent in 3 times for service. They all blame it on microsoft/windows on 1st time on corrupted file. The last time they said I had a virus in my vaio, quite weridly my two acer laptops had no problems despite the same usage. One of my acer was like 4 year old, and was a display set that I bought. It was totally ok. Sony sucks. Their battery which was claimed to last 6 hours was only true when all requirements are running on minimal, like super dark screen. Otherwise , is 2 hours. This is my first and last time buying their product.
I am from Singapore and I just bought a z-series in Aug. Since then, I have taken it 3 times for servicing. First time, they blamed it on windows. Second time, they changed one of the hardware as my laptop couldnt switch on. The last time, they said I had a virus. Strangely, my two acer laptops were fine without any virus protection. Lastly, the manager claimed that all these problems are COMMON. They only deal with hardware, for any software problems, please call microsoft. Well, me too, first and last time buying a sony product.
