I am a high school senior that will be graduating this year (2008) and starting college in the fall. My parents got me a laptop this year and let me pick out which one that I want to get. I found a great deal on an Acer computer, loaded with everything that I want (250GB Hard Drive, 2GB RAM, Windows Vista Home Premium, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, CD and DVD Burner, and a Intel Core 2 Duo (1.66 GHz) CPU) for 9.99 at Circuit City. I am also looking very seriously at the Apple MacBook (refurbished for around 00). I am open to any suggestions for a good college computer but especially anyone with experience with a MacBook or an Acer. The Acer is a great deal but if it will not hold up then I think I am better off spending a couple hundred extra on something that is going to last longer. Don’t tell me how much Mac or PC sucks…I don’t care unless you have an educated reason to back it up! Answers, Suggestions, Experience, Recommendations? Thanks! =)

I rebooted my laptop with windows xp home and erased my old version of windows xp. But after i installed it, i tried to put a audio cd and play it, it said that i dont have a sound card installed. Ive rebooted windows xp before on my old laptop and it worked fine. What could possibly be wrong with mine. I had a older computer which was an Panasonic toughbook Pent.4 but i have a new HP Pavilion. Could i have erased to much stuff?????????

i don’t have a clue how computing things work at all. all i know is how to turn my laptop on and get onto the internet. well sometimes when i go on here i get a message pop up saying something about an IP address conflict, what does this mean and how do i sort it out?

also i have a wireless internet surplied by t-mobile, its very very slow and somtimes doesn’t even come on, has this got something to do with the IP address?
